ESL

ESL (english as a second language) its a program for students who need help in the english language because they come from a non-english countries. Its really helpfull for some people, especially if they are new to the language.

My experience as being an english as a second language person, has been quite good, I've never been bullied about my problems with english, but there are thing that have bothered me, like when I first arrived, almost everybody ask me to say Taco Bell or Tortilla, those sort of things. Another thing that happened, is that once I was with my friends I said something wrong, and they all started laughing and called me EFL (english as a fifth language).

Other than that, I enjoy learning english because it opens alot of doors, and its fun. Plus, the good thing about being in a country where they don't speak your language, is that you can say anything you don't want the other people to know, because they won't understand you, and this kinda give them a feeling of how many non-english speaking people feel.

Samanta,

Sometimes people can develop stereotypes about a language or culture by assuming that the one thing they know about it represents the whole (for example, "Taco Bell"). However, the good part about these kind of people meeting you means that they are seeing another perspective and getting more of a broader view of the Spanish Culture!
